Plamen Mitev is a Professor of Bulgarian History at the Faculty of History, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. His research expertise and scholarly publications encompass a broad range of topics related to the economic and social history of the Ottoman Empire in the 18th and 19th centuries; various aspects of the Bulgarian National Revival and the development of the Bulgarian political question (including centers, key figures, political programmes, and propaganda); the Eastern Question and the role of the Bulgarians; as well as the establishment of diplomatic missions and foreign propaganda in the Balkans. Professor Mitev has led and participated in numerous research projects funded by the Research Fund of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria. His involvement with the Center for Regional Studies and Analyses dates back to its founding in 2014, when, in his capacity as Dean of the Faculty of History, he welcomed and actively supported the initiative. At present, Professor Mitev serves as Executive Director of the Center for Regional Studies and Analyses.
