Ivan Parvev is a Professor of Modern Balkan History at the Faculty of History, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. His research interests focus on the study of European–Ottoman political relations in the 16th–18th centuries; the Balkans and the Eastern Question from the 17th to the 20th centuries; the interconnections between Central Europe and the Balkans during the Early Modern period; as well as selected aspects of international relations theory. Professor Parvev has participated in research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria. He has served as Head of the “Regional Programme” at the Alma Mater University Complex for the Humanities, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, and was President of the Bulgarian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (2009–2013). Professor Parvev is one of the initiators behind the establishment of the Center for Regional Studies and Analyses.
