Maria Kiprovska has been a researcher at the Center for Regional Studies and Analyses since its establishment in 2014. She is a specialist in Ottoman history, with her primary research interests broadly encompassing the processes of state formation and administrative structures in the early Ottoman state, as well as the role of Ottoman and Balkan military elites in Ottoman expansionist and state-building policies. Kiprovska is also interested in the study of Ottoman architectural heritage as an instrument for expressing political power and controlling space. Her publications to date have focused on various topics in Ottoman social and political history. She has participated in numerous international and national research projects and has received prestigious fellowships in the field of Ottoman studies, including an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship at the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) and a Junior Residential Fellowship at the Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations in Istanbul.
