Georg-Alexandar Chernev is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Bulgarian History at the Faculty of History, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. His dissertation focuses on the topic “Kuwait in Bulgarian Foreign Policy after the Second World War (1956–1989)”.

Before pursuing historical research, Chernev completed two Bachelor’s degrees at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” — in International Relations at the Faculty of Law and in Arabic Studies at the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology. This combination provides a solid foundation for his interdisciplinary interests in the modern and contemporary history of the Arab world and Islam, the Middle East conflict, Bulgarian–Arab relations, Middle Eastern geopolitics, and Bulgaria’s policy towards the countries of the Persian Gulf.

Chernev has conducted a specialization at Kuwait University, where he further developed his proficiency in Arabic. He also holds a diploma as an expert in regional studies and analyses from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

In addition to his native Bulgarian, he is proficient in English, Arabic, and Russian. He has participated in numerous national and international research projects related to international relations, the history and politics of the Middle East.
