Dr. Grigor Boykov holds a PhD in Ottoman History from Bilkent University, Ankara. His primary research interests and publications address various aspects of the social, demographic, urban, and architectural history of Bulgaria and the Balkans during the Ottoman period. Dr. Boykov has been affiliated with the Center for Regional Studies and Analyses since its establishment in early 2014. He teaches at the Faculty of History, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, offering undergraduate and graduate courses on the history of the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans, minority issues in the region, the spread of Islam in the Balkans, and the historical and contemporary challenges faced by Muslim communities. Dr. Boykov also has a strong interest in the field of Digital Humanities and actively contributes to several digital projects and initiatives, including the Historical Geographic Information System of Southeastern Europe, the Zograph Digital Archive at Sofia University, and Open Ottoman, a platform and incubator for digital initiatives in Ottoman studies.
