Prof. Dr. Kliment Naydenov, D.Sc. (Geography) is a faculty member in the Department of Regional Development at the Faculty of Geology and Geography, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Since 2016, he has been Head of the Bachelor’s programme “Regional Development and Policy” at the same faculty and is the founder and head of the doctoral programme in Regional Development. In 2019, he was elected Dean of the Faculty and was re-elected in 2023. Between 2018 and 2022, he served as Chair of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian Geographical Society. He is the initiator of the “GeoDecade 2020–2030” initiative.

Professor Naydenov is the author or co-author of over 100 publications, including books, textbooks, teaching aids, and scholarly articles. He has participated in more than 100 national and international academic and business projects.

Since 2019, he has been a member of the Council for Regional Policy at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. Since 2021, he has also served as a member of the Regional Development Council for the South-West Planning Region. In 2023, he was admitted as a member of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in recognition of his active involvement in events related to Bulgaria’s scientific research programme “Antarctica”.
