The “Venice, Ottoman Empire and the Balkans (XV – XVI Century)” study presents the interweaving stories of the wars and peace between the Serenist Republic of Venice and the Ottoman sultans and seeks the complex balance of the different spheres of their relations: politics, culture, diplomacy And trade. The study reveals the post-Byzantine Constantinople as seen by the Venetians, introduces new sources and opens up previously unknown fields to future researchers.
